13 Days of Halloween: Wednesday Addams
Hello sewing friends! Its Courtenay here, super excited to be back on the blog today to share Edie’s super spooky (for a 6 year old) Halloween costume.
She has always been a bit fan of dressing up and this year she wanted a scarier costume for Halloween. She spotted a picture of Wednesday Addams in a magazine and was adamant that it was the costume for her. We had a fun time perusing the Simple Life Pattern Company website looking for dresses with the must-have collar and she settled on the beautiful Georgia which made me a happy mum because the look could be achieved with little modification. I love the look of a mini dress for Wednesday so I went up a size in the length for the bodice and peplum skirt so it would be long enough for Edie.
While the look can be achieved really easily with black and white quilting cotton, we made it a little bit extra with a beautiful, flocked mesh skirt with a really appropriate bat and star print. For the overlay I used the same skirt piece but added an inch in length, cut out 2 skirts before joining and gathering for a double circle skirt.
When it came time for the photoshoot Edie was totally bringing some super grumpy Wednesday Addams vibes. I think my favourite thing is that you can make such a great look without modifying the pattern! Happy Halloween everyone – I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Make sure you head over to the Simple Life Pattern Company Facebook group to share your amazing makes.
