25 Days of Christmas – Day 24 Newport

Day 24  of the 25 Days of Christmas with Simple Life Pattern Company and Art Gallery Fabrics is here! Today I have an adorable Newport dress to show you.

You may be thinking Newport in the winter? I say absolutely. I adore the back detail of Newport. The way the straps slope into a dramatic v in the back is so divine. Because of the way the back bodice is designed, you cannot add sleeves. However, you can layer with a long sleeve top or cute denim jacket for winter wear. Or if you live in the south and have unreasonably warm weather you can wear just as it is!

Now, let’s talk about my other favorite feature of Newport, the flap pockets. The design of these inseam pockets make them perfect for adding or showcasing a coordinating print. I chose to use two different prints. I used a pretty pink floral for the flap and a mist green winterberry print for the lining. Chacely loved the pockets and stuffed them full of leaves.

Another versatile design feature is the optional hemband. The best part of this hemband is that there is no hemming required. Simply fold the cut pieces in half and sew onto the skirt bottom. Easy peasy. The pop of color it adds to the dress is so dazzling.

To achieve this look

AGF fabrics are Snowdrift Joy, Season Carols, and Winterberry Mist.

Denim jacket is from Amazon.

Boots are from Target.

Socks are from Baby Squishy Cheeks.

Freebie

I have a keepsake craft for you today. With a few paints and a cheap ceramic plate you can make a handprint plate to cherish forever. You can choose to make holly wreaths, snowmen, reindeer, or Santa using handprints  for a classic holiday look. If you would rather be different you can make a custom design. Since my husband loves to grill we made him a custom grill plate a few years ago. I used Chacely’s little hands to make the flames. Let your imagination run wild. Use plates or mugs and give your family members a homemade gift they’ll  certainly love.

Recipe

I have a family recipe to share with you. Pumpkin rolls are one of my favorite holiday treats. The sweet and spice filled pumpkin cake paired with the tangy cream cheese frosting is absolutely mouth watering. Add pecans or walnuts for even more flavor and crunch. When I make these for my husband to take to work his coworkers fight over them. I always make two because they seem to disappear so fast. I hope you’ll love this holiday treat as much as we do.
