Adelyn Sewalong: Day 2
Welcome back to Day 2 of the Adelyn’s Scoop Back Top and Dress Sewalong! If you missed day 1, check it out here.
Today we are going to be completing steps 1-21 in the pattern tutorial. By the end of day 2, we will have completed our Adelyn bodices! Hooray!
First, you will need to finish your bow ties, if you opted to add those. Next, sew your main fabric front and back bodice pieces right sides together at the shoulder seams. Repeat with the lining fabric front and back bodice pieces.
Sew your bow ties onto your bodice as the pattern tutorial directs in step 5. If you are adding flutters, follow along with steps 6-7. At this point, your main fabric bodice will look something like this:
Next, you are going to place your lining fabric bodice on top of your main fabric bodice, right sides together matching up the shoulder seams. Take time to pin your bodices together. Sew around the neck opening with a 3/8″ seam allowance. Remember, we are sewing knits, so you will want to use a stretch stitch. I increase my stitch length to 3.5 and sew with a straight stitch.
Clip the curves. This is super important and will help your bodice lay correctly. I prefer to use pinking shears. Turn your bodice right sides out and press.
Now the tricky part! I made a video to help with steps 10-14. We’ll call this the burrito roll. 🙂
Finally, complete the sides of your bodice by following steps 15-16. You should now have a beautiful Adelyn bodice!
Remember to post your progress photos in the daily album in the SLPco Fan Group using the hashtags #AdelynSAL and #SLPcoAdelyn.
Happy sewing,
Kimberlee
