Adelyn Showcase
This month is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. It is also the release of my Addie’s namesake dress, Adelyn’s Scoopback Dress! It wasn’t planned to release her dress during CF awareness month, in fact, I tried to have this pattern out months ago, but wasn’t able! I am tickled that it will now release in during CF awareness month. Why you ask?
This is why. This is Adeyln Belle. She is my youngest, my only little girl and she was born with Cystic Fibrosis.
cystic fibrosis
ˌsistik fīˈbrōsəs/
noun
a hereditary disorder affecting the exocrine glands. It causes the production of abnormally thick mucus, leading to the blockage of the pancreatic ducts, intestines, and bronchi and often resulting in respiratory infection.
Cystic Fibrosis causes a greater risk of getting lung infections because thick, sticky mucus builds up in their lungs, allowing germs to thrive and multiply. Lung infections, caused mostly by bacteria, are a serious and chronic problem for many people living with the disease. The buildup of mucus in the pancreas can also stop the absorption of food and key nutrients, resulting in malnutrition and poor growth. In the liver, the thick mucus can block the bile duct, causing liver disease. Because of tremendous advancements in research and care, many people with CF are living long enough to realize their dreams of attending college, pursuing careers, getting married and having kids.
Learning my precious baby girl has a life threating, degenerative disease was the single most difficult thing I have ever endured. It took my breath away. It was a moment that will forever define a turning point in my life and in our family’s life. We chose to stay positive and trust our path. It has been a hard path, but we wouldn’t change our little Addie Belle one bit (ok that’s a lie, I would gladly take away her disease).
My little Adelyn is a sass. She is such a happy child. She loves to play with her big brother. She is loving and a goofball to the highest degree. She makes faces like you wouldn’t believe. She is strong. She has the highest pain tolerance you could imagine for a child, nothing phases her. She is kind, and polite. She is a warrior.
I am so proud to name this dress after her. This dress has been a project of mine for months! I took care to get it just right. It is filled with options and allows you to use knit and woven. I love knit dresses! It can be used in the winter as a long sleeve dress or in the summer as a sleeveless dress! It comes in baby sizes NB to 18-24m and girl sizes 2t – 12y! It can be circle skirt or gathered, top or dress length. You can have sleeveless, flutter, short or long sleeves. You can add the bow to the back (either skinny bow or thick) or you can leave that off all together! The bodice is always knit, but you can choose to use woven for the skirt, bow ties, and/or flutters! It is such a versatile dress!
Thanks for taking the time to learn about Adelyn’s Scoop back Dress and my little Adelyn Belle! I hope you love the Adelyn Dress! The “warrior” SVG file will also be included in the pattern for you to make a vinyl appliqué with your silhouette or circuit machine! Make sure to snag your copy while it is on sale to use in the Adelyn Sew Along happening NEXT WEEK!!!!
