Bountiful Fabrics: The Blog Tour

Bountiful Fabrics blog tour Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics featuring Molly and Isla girls dresses

YAY!!! Its my turn on the Bountiful Fabrics Blog Tour. I have been waiting to share these pictures with you for a long time. Sharon Holland designed another beautiful collection for Art Gallery Fabrics and it is now shipping to stores. I was really drawn to Sharon’s new collection because it just speaks to me. I am a country girl at heart, live in a small town of 190 people and love being surrounded by fields. In fact, this run down barn I took the pictures at is just right outside of my little town, in the middle of an old corn field. Our snow is finally gone (well, almost) and everything is a bit muddy, but that didn’t stop me from taking my big suburban through the corn field, to get to this beautiful barn. I really did think I was going to be calling my husband to come pull me out but fortunately, we ended up getting out of it (my mad driving skills, right!).

I was so honored when Sharon asked me to be apart of this spring blog tour (and the fall blog tour as well!!) and I knew immediately I wanted to sew up another Molly dress. I released this pattern almost a year ago, and I used Sharon’s #CoastlineFabric to promote the Molly when it released. Coastline at that time was Sharon’s new collection and it was PERFECT for all the Spring & Summer dresses I had planned.  It is by far the most popular images I have on Pinterest. I have sold many “Get the Look” kits for that maxi dress and since it has been nearly a year since Molly released, why not celebrate by using Sharon’s #BountifulFabrics and sewing up another Molly (yep – i am kicking myself for not requesting enough fabric to do a maxi version – but my order did arrive a week ago and you can bet I will be making some maxi’s with this collection).

We are suckers for knit dresses/tops here at the Skoog house. My girls beg for their stuff to be in #AGFknit and every time I get new knits in, they fight over who gets what print (hehe – I created monsters…. insert evil laugh). I received these fabrics a few months ago when it was still really cold here so I decided to make an Isla dropwaist 3/4 sleeve dress. I love this style of dress on my oldest. I feel it is very flattering on her taller frame (which she had lost weight after I made this so it is kinda big on her now). It is great for older girls who just don’t like the frills (well, its perfect for all ages really). I have plans to make a pair of #SLPcoSarahann leggings to go under it in the Arborescent Season’s knit. I love the pale peachy-pink background on this knit. One thing you may notice on my Isla dress is I skipped the lining and added a neckband to save fabric. I have a tutorial with actual measurements & a few tips for making that modification coming your way very soon!

Also – wanna know a super fun fact….. Art Gallery fabrics are now producing 5 knits for each full collection. I am super happy about this as I just LOVE their knit. They have such a HUGE selection of knit fabrics, you are bound to find something you love.
