Day 2: Kinley Sewalong
We’re back for day 2 of the Kinley Sewalong! If you missed day 1, check it out here. Today we get to have a little date with our fabric cutting tools. Let’s look at what we will accomplish on day 2:
If you’re new to layered pattern pieces, check out our blog post here on how to use them.
Follow steps 1-5 in the Kinley pattern for cutting your fabric. You will also need to cut the sleeves from the Rayann pattern. For the purpose of this sewalong, I am doing a flounce skirt with circle underskirt and long sleeves. You are welcomed to chose any skirt options and sleeve length you chose. It would also be fun to add the Rayann skirt to the Kinley bodice. Options galore!
TIP: On step 5, you are cutting off the bottom triangle of the fabric. Make sure you are not cutting along the top of the circle that faces the waist portion of the skirt.
If you aren’t using premade single fold bias tape for the flounce skirt, follow the instructions in the Kinley tutorial for making the bias tape. I like to make several yards in several colors at one time so i’ll be prepared for another project in the future.
Don’t forget to share you Kinley progress pictures in the SLPco Fan Group on Facebook using the hashtags #SLPcoKinley and #KinleySAL!
Happy fabric cutting,
