Day 4: Kinley Sewalong

Hi again and welcome back to day 4 of the Kinley Sewlaong! Today we are going to construct our Kinley skirts.

Depending on which skirt you chose, there will be different sets of instructions for you to follow.

First, I made a circle skirt with flounces. The hardest part about the circle skirt is hemming the bottom. I chose to use single fold bias tape.  On the RIGHT side of your Kinley underskirt, open the bias tape and line up the raw edge of the bias tape with the raw edge of the underskirt. Sew along the fold as shown below.

Flip the bias tape to the wrong side of the skirt and sew to attach.

Sew together the back circle skirt, front flounces and front underskirt at the side seams as the pattern directs in steps 23-24 (pages 15-16).

Now, hem the top skirt piece using the single fold bias tape method or one of the other two methods taught in the pattern.

Baste the front flounces in place and you are done for today!

Next, I made a simple gathered skirt. I sewed up the sides, finished the seams, hemmed the bottom of the skirt and gathered the top of the skirt. Easy peasy! I wanted to pull out a little of the green in the skirt so I added rick rack!

Here are my two finished skirts:

I can’t wait to see your finished skirts in the SLPco Fan Group on Facebook! Remember to upload them to the album and use the hastags #SLPcoKinley #KinleySAL

Happy sewing,

Kimberlee
