Holiday Dress Time Winter Fawn | The Simple Life Pattern Company

Holiday dress time: Winter Fawn anyone?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! And, let’s bring on the holidays!!

OK, I admit it, I love the holidays! We celebrate Christmas at my house and I love everything about this season. The decorations, the music, the cookies, and of course the dresses!!

To get you all in the spirit of the holiday season and ready for holiday sewing, I am delighted to show you the creations I made with the Winter Fawn fabric line from Hawthorne Threads!! I’m so in love with this fabric line! It’s perfect for every winter holiday!! Here’s a sneak…

The fabric does not disappoint! The fabric from Hawthorne Threads arrives rather stiff, which can be scary. Be sure to wash it and dry it in the dryer before using it. The fabric softens right up and irons beautifully. I like using this fabric for dresses because it adds a lot of body and fullness.

For my first look, I used the BellaKinley mash up with the Lilly sash again. This has to be my most favorite dress at the moment. The beauty of this mash up is that it looks like a new dress. If you bought the bundle, you have this dress! When I post pictures of this dress, testers will ask me how soon they can test the pattern! That’s a pretty amazing mash up, if you ask me.

I made the bodice and skirt using the Fawn in Winter. I am obsessed with this fabric at the moment. The flutter sleeves were made with Snowfall in Desert Rose. I have a detailed tutorial on how to do the flutter sleeves in my The Wonder of Wonderland blog post. What truly makes this dress spectacular is the belt (from the Lilly pattern)! I used the Boreal Border in Winter for this and only used the border pieces. I put the other piece to good use, but I’m saving that for another post! Lindsay at Hawthorne Threads recommended this. Wow!! I am so glad I asked for advice in pairing the fabric because I had no idea how perfectly that border would work for a sash! I strongly recommend contacting someone who can actually see the fabric when making fabric selections!!

For my next look I made the Ayda dress. I used the gathered skirt option and added lace to the back of the bodice. So stunning!! The bodice was made with Conifer Canopy in Winter, the skirt in Buffalo Plaid in Succulent, and the sash in Snowfall in Desert Rose. This is a removable sash. I just used the sash instructions from Lilly’s Lapel dress.

Check out that back! I love that lace accent! If you want more coverage, there is a modest back option too.

I love how these dresses coordinate without being the same (my twins hate to wear the same thing). And these dresses are perfect for the whole holiday season. You can dress them up with sparkly flats (like Megan in her Ayda dress) or dress it down with casual boots (like Mia in her Bella-Kinley mash up).

Regardless of how you style it, your girl will shine!

I can’t wait to see what your holiday dresses look like!! Please be sure to join our fan page and show us your creations. Oh, and if you are on my Christmas card list, please pretend you have not seen these pictures yet!
