I Dare You

Welcome to the Dare by Pat Bravo blog tour! Lets just start by saying I love this fabric line.  I feel it has the perfect amount of whimsy and all my favorite colors (who doesn’t love navy and pink together???). I grabbed the graphic below from Pat’s Facebook page. That blazer is so stunning huh!

I had been working on a new pattern when my Dare fabric arrived and I instantly fell in love with the wafting plaid marked. I stopped everything I was doing and cut out the Brenda’s bow dress. I feel this fabric really showcased the dress well and gave it a winter/holiday feeling that I actually wasn’t expecting. We had so much fun photographing these dresses. The weather had been so cold and we finally caught a decent day (where people wouldn’t judge me for taking my kids out in dresses) so we snapped a few pictures. We also tried indoor pictures but lets face it – i stink at photography (but I am trying really hard to learn- so bear with me while I learn…)

Once I finished that dress, one of my other daughters was so jealous so I let her dig through my stash of fabrics and she choose the pop art in spring blossom print which fits her personality perfectly. Rayann is very spunky and full of personality. She loves to show that in her outfits that I make her.

Lets not forget the last minute party dress made with pop art winter flower. I had been cleaning my sewing room to snap some pics and I stumbled upon a few bolts of tulle (yes, I forgot I had bolts of it). I then had a huge urge to make  something with it. Oh lordy! I forgot how much I hate working with tulle. Its not that it is hard to sew or anything, its cutting it! it was wrinkly and all of a sudden it was full of static and I couldn’t even get it to lay flat to cut. BUT after a few hours of ironing, hiding in the corner to cry, putting it back on the shelf and then finally back on the cutting table, i got it cut and sewn together. This dress is 8 yards of tulle in width. The look on my oldest daughters face was priceless. She just lit up and asked if that party dress was for her – so of course she put it on immediate and started twirling around. This dress has a ton of volume and it makes her feel like a princess- so I am sure I will be making more!

Laura also had to join the fun with her daughter. Megan looks adorable in this Brenda dress made with Brave Bloom Firmed.  That flower pattern is just so bold and beautiful, the scale is perfect on Brenda!!
