Monaluna Wildflower The Simple Life Pattern Company

Monaluna Wildflower : Blog Tour

Hello lovely readers!

One of the amazing bits I love about working for SLPco is the chance to see and sew with some incredibly gorgeous fabric.

We are so excited to be a part of the Monaluna Wanderlust Fabrics Blog Tour hosted by Phat Quarters and sponsored by Monaluna today!

When I was invited to participate, I knew that I wanted to try some of the amazing organic cotton poplin and I knew the SLPco Jane pattern would be perfect my Middle Miss. I requested some yardage of WildflowerSkipping Stone, and Dusk poplin to create my look and was thrilled with the results.

I chose the Simple Life Pattern Company’s Jane because I knew that the organic poplin would be soft, breezy, and drape well for the full gathered skirt. I also loved this fabric so much I wanted it to be something that could grow with her! Like with all SLPco patterns I used the chest measurement to determine size. Because my Middle Miss is very tall and slender for her age, I added length to the bodice as well as to the skirt. I wanted her to be able to wear this for several months. Because it has optional sleeves, Jane also works very well for situations where extra coverage is required!

One of my favorite things about the quality of the organic poplin from Monaluna is that the wrong side of fabric is just slightly lighter than the right side. This means that it works very well for any garment where some of the wrong side is going to show (such as a high-low hem, or kimono). While I didn’t need that benefit for the particular garment I chose, I love the watercolor saturation effect on the fabric itself. This is especially evident in the Wildflower print that I used. I feel like I am clothing my child in a unique piece of art when she chooses to wear her new dress (which has been often since I completed it)!

I received a KAM snap press as well as a variety pack of snap colors for my birthday, and one of my favorite parts of finishing a project is choosing the snaps! I chose some dusk colored size 20 snaps for easy sleepy-eyed dressing in the morning. I also wanted the focus to remain on the artful prints. Jane continues to be one of my favorite SLPco patterns!

Thanks for stopping by to check out these gorgeous Monaluna fabrics.
