Patricia Sew-A-Long Day 3

Day 3 of our Patricia Sew along is here.  Did you survive the cutting day?  I wish I could pay someone to do my cutting! Are you with me? For Day 3 we actually get to do some sewing.  If you are just joining, scope out Day 1 and Day 2 and then hop on in!

I always feel like bodice construction is the quickest part of a project.  It gives me the illusion that I’m halfway done.  Typically, I yell down to my husband that I’ll be heading to bed as soon as I attach the skirt…. 2 hours later I’m in bed and that’s only if I didn’t have to do any seam ripping. Gathering is probably my second least favorite step in the process. It always slows me down.

For the Patricia bodice, be sure that you clip around the neckline if you are doing a woven bodice.  That is going to make a huge difference in how nicely your neckline lays.  I always make sure to give my seams a lot of pressing between steps.  If I was going to give one tip that would turn your pieces from looking homemade to custom-made it would be to Press, Press, Press.  So, even though pressing isn’t a listed step for today, be sure you do it. Here’s my Patricia bodice in the Siren Song Fabric.  I’m loving this print.

Be sure to snap a photo of your bodice and share it in the facebook group under Day 3.  Congrats!! We are halfway finished!
