Pattern of the Month – October 2017
Hello everyone. I am super excited to share with you a new “thing” we are doing here at SLPco…. are you ready for it?
Yes – I have been tossing this idea around for awhile, different concepts, trying to figure out how I wanted to do it and of course, that’s all that happened – I just thought about it. That was until my super awesome friend, Christine Woiczechowski Hair made this AH-MAZE-ING Adelyn maxi dress. Then it hit me – why get all complicated and super crazy with the pattern of the month? How about we just showcase a pattern, the amazing hacks you ladies do and fun tips & tricks! Simple right! Good, glad we got that all figured out. The new Pattern of the Month will feature 1 pattern every month. We may grab photos from the fan group, from Instagram, from current and past testers…. who knows! If you are wanting to be showcased, the best way to get noticed is by using the right hashtags. #SLPco is our general one but each pattern has its own, like the #SLPcoAdelyn (or #SLPcoMolly #SLPcoIsla etc….). Use these when you post your photos so we can all see your pretties. The best part of POM, that pattern will be on sale for $2.00 off the whole month! woot woot. We will try showcase some “insider knowledge” on that specific pattern, such as swapping pieces with other patterns, fun hacks/mashes and our favorite fan photos. Be sure to grab the Adelyn Scoop Bow Back pattern now. So, without further ado, Octobers POM is….
The Adelyn Pattern is available in GIRLS and BABY sizes. Adelyn’s features a knit bodice and you can do a knit skirt or woven skirt. Choose from a gathered skirt or do the circle skirt for the ultimate twirl. Choose from tank top, flutter sleeves, short sleeves and long sleeves. The bodice has 2 back options. modest scoop or a deep scoop and also has an optional bow in the back. This pattern is perfect for year round sewing. Not only is it a fast sew, it is so adorable. I love this bodice on the romper add on for babies!
Okay, are you ready to see Christine’s amazing work that inspired this idea? She choose the deep scoop back, sleeves and added a belt to really make this dress pop. If you are curious about the fabrics she used, she bought the floral from Knit Pop.
So, now that we are all drooling over this dress (or is it just me)…. lets learn how you can achieve this. Get your pen and paper out, its a long one. Just kidding! All you need is the Molly Top, Dress & Maxi pattern. If you are doing an all knit maxi Adelyn, use the maxi length from the Molly pattern. Simple right! Now, what if you want to do a knit bodice but a woven skirt? Add 1/2″ to the Molly maxi length. THAT’S IT! Done, bam, mic drop.
I love this dress that Susan Carlisle from Three Penguins made! She is ready for fall!
And check out Christen Caruful from On Tucker Lane’s beautiful Maxi – LOVE that plaid sash.
Okay, remember that “Insider knowledge” I was telling you about? Well, this is my favorite and I have shared it in the SLPco Fan Group a few times, but just in case you missed it, if you don’t want to do a gathered sleeve like the Adelyn pattern calls for, you can use the Isla’s Infinity top/dress sleeve. That is pretty cool right! I used the Isla sleeves for the maxi dress that I made. I used Bari J’s newest fabric collection, Wild Bloom for Art Gallery Fabrics.

Now, lets get down to the good stuff. The whole month of October, Adelyn will be on sale for $8.
I hope we inspired you to sew up some fall Adelyn’s! We are getting ready for November’s pattern of the month, what pattern would you like to see? Comment with your choice.
Happy Sewing,
Katie Skoog
