SLPco Showcase: Hawthorne Threads Indy Bloom
Hey y’all!! Becca here to share with you some very special creations I made using the new Indy Bloom line for Hawthorne Threads!! Since the moment Hawthorne Threads announced that they would be carrying Indy Bloom I have wanted to get my hands on some of those gorgeous prints. I fell head over heels, fast, for this line!!! The bright color story and beautiful watercolor flowers are exactly my daughter’s style and since she’s the one that seems to reap all the sewing benefits these days I had to make her a few dresses. I did use the Indy Bloom Christmas line to make a few handmade gifts this year also. You can see those HERE!
My first fabric and dress pairing was simple. It’s as if they were designed to be made together. When Pearl was in testing, I wasn’t able to make one but drooled over every tester picture that came in. The Pearl’s Zipper Top and Dress is such a sweet and feminine looking design. Katie put such thought into every detail of this dress and it shows in the final product.
As for the fabric, I had my heart set on Little Blushing Floral in Melon on Mist. I could stare at this pattern all day long. Those flowers are simply amazing and the mist background is the perfect touch to really make the flowers pop!
For these next two dresses I wanted them to coordinate with each other nicely but not look too matchy-matchy. My daughter loves when we get her friends involved in photoshoots and honestly so do I! It makes for such a fun and sweet photo.
My daughter is wearing an Ayda’s V Back Peplum and Dress in Mermaid Floral in Lagoon. I made matching bias tape and used it to hem the bottom of her circle skirt. This is my absolute favorite way to hem a circle skirt, it is so easy and gives the skirt a little more character.
Her friends dress is a Sophie’s V & Scoop Back Top and Dress (can you believe this is the first time I’ve made this dress!!). For this dress I used the Daydream Floral in Tropical. The ladies at Hawthorne Threads were amazing and helped me to choose the perfect coordinating fabric for the neckline ruffle. Their Candy Dot in Seafoam matched perfectly.
If you have never worked with Hawthorne Thread Fabrics before, you don’t know what you’re missing. They have the cutest story about how they came to be…two love birds who love fabric. Not only do they carry over 20 different manufacturers, but they also print their own in house designs. The fabric they use is soft and easy to work with and comes in 2 different sizes. Each in house order comes with a fabric care card and the customer service is impeccable.
Well, there you go!! Thanks so much for stopping by to see these gorgeous dresses. I hope they have inspired you to get out and get some of your own Indy Bloom fabrics! I’m excited to say after sewing these dresses I am ahead of the game and my daughter Easter dress will be one of them!! 😉
