Easter Dress Inspo: A Breeze Showcase

Happy Spring friends!  It’s Amanda from LoveCraftSew on the blog today to bring you some Easter sewing inspiration!  Easter is the perfect time to showcase special fabric with floral fabrics and frilly dress patterns.

When searching for the perfect fancy SLPCO Easter dress I knew that Breeze was the best choice!  This pattern includes ruffles, bows, shirring, a twirly skirt and puffy sleeves.  I chose a lightweight rayon blend fabric that would both showcase the flowiness of this pattern and would allow the ruffles and bows to lay nicely.

I have never sewn shirring before and after sewing up Breeze I have realized there was nothing to be afraid of!  Shirring is so much easier than it looks, and you can conquer your fear of shirring too.  I watched the video included in the pattern (it was so very helpful), practiced on a few scraps and was so surprised at how easy it actually was to complete.  The only extra supplies you will need to shir your fabric is elastic thread which you can easily find at your local fabric shop.

To complete this Easter look I paired her dress with Sloane socks in the knee length slouched down with tiny ribbon bows added.   I also sewed up a quick hair scarf using the bodice ruffle pattern piece of the Breeze pattern.  To make your own easy hair scarf you can simply cut the bodice ruffle piece on the fold horizontally (doubling the width) and taper the ends to a point.  Sew together the raw edges right sides together leaving a hole for turning right side out. You will then turn your scarf right side out and sew up your hole.  I opted to tie mine into a bow, but it is adorable left in a knot with long ends as well!

I hope you are inspired to sew with dainty florals and twirly dresses this Easter, and I cannot wait to see yours in the Simple Life Fan Group when you are finished!
