25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS – DAY 15 Jaimesyn

On the fifteenth day of Christmas Simple Life Pattern Company and Art Gallery Fabrics gave to me a Jaimesyn romper with a sweet little puppy!

My girls are obsessed with dogs. They frequently ask to visit the “pet store” on the weekends just to look at and play with the dogs. When I saw this sweet little puppy panel I knew I needed to make my youngest a romper using it. I decided on Jaimesyn because I’m a huge fan of all those bodice ruffles and the v-back option.

For the bodice I pieced it together using the pattern pieces. However, instead of enclosing the ruffles within the main and bodice lining I decided to do a rolled hem. I cut each flutter 1/2″ wider than the pattern piece. I did a rolled hem on each side of the flutter piece. I then sewed a basting stitch 1/2″ from the straight edge. I used this basting stitch as a guide to pin the flutter to the bodice along the pieced bodice seams. Then I topstitched the flutters down with some decorative trim. For the tulle flutter I cut 3 layers to give it more body.

I repeated this process for the skirt I added. I just made sure to hem the front edge of the skirt. I aligned it with the inner edge of bodice flutters and along the waist seam. Then I topstitched the skirt in place over the waist seam. I’m so obsessed with how this turned out and all the gold details. Because of the deep v back of the bodice, I did not add a placket to the romper/skirt portion because I knew it would have enough ease to slip on.

Do you like the exposed flutter and skirt add-on? Let me know!

A Holiday Craft

I have a fun dancing doggie craft for you today. My youngest saw this while I was scrolling Pinterest one night and begged to make it. Hopefully this little dancing dachshund will bring your kiddos lots of giggles and joy too!

A Holiday Treat

Yep, the recipe is puppy themed too! I have for you a super yummy and easy Christmas Puppy Chow recipe. My girls have recently discovered a deep love for puppy chow after a Christmas party we went to last weekend. So, I’ve picked up all the ingredients to make this with their cousins in a couple weeks.

Happy Christmas sewing,

Chauncey Williams
