Mash-up: Maggie and Emilya
Hi, it’s Amanda on the blog again today to bring you a super simple pattern mash for Fall!
I love the look of a wide suspender waistband and wanted to create this look for a transition to Fall staple wardrobe piece for my daughter. Simple Life has an adorable suspender shorts pattern (the Maggie shorts) but it does not include an option for pants. I knew that this waistband would look ADORABLE paired with Emilya’s Skinny Pants. Both of these patterns are drafted for woven fabrics so this is a perfect set to mash!
I was so excited to find that this pattern hack requires NO modifications to the existing pattern pieces. First, cut out your fabric pieces for your pants using Emilya pieces for everything EXCEPT the waistband.
Next, you will cut out your waistband and suspender pieces using only the Maggie pattern. I chose the mid rise option (the high rise option would look amazing too!) and made no modifications to these pieces. You will then sew up your pants and pockets according to the instructions in Emilya and sew up the waistband and suspenders according to the Maggie instructions. Finally, attach the waistband per instructions which fits perfectly onto the pants with no mods!
I wanted a staple piece for her wardrobe, so I went with a denim that is super versatile. To complete her look, I used jeans buttons for her front suspender to attach. I paired these pants with a Cheyenne Ruffle Top (sans ruffles) in a fabric with rustic Fall colors.
I hope you are inspired for Fall by this look, and I cannot wait to see yours in the Simple Life Fan Group when you are finished!
