Patricia: Styling Through the Seasons
As the summer starts to wind down, I, as I’m sure many do, start to dread the conversation with my daughter about how it’s time to put away her summer dresses… But what if we don’t have to?
My name is Victoria, and I am on the blog today to show how I style many of our SLPco summer dresses to fit the seasons using one of my favourites – Patricia! It is such a quick sew with stunning results. What makes it so quick? The lack of closures! This dress has no need for a zipper or buttons – it simply slides on over the child’s head. I chose to use a wonderfully soft linen from Harrow Lane Textile Company. I was sure to use a print that I thought would be received well all year long.
SPRING
Let’s start with SPRING! My favourite thing about spring is the first time my feet touch the soft grass again. I’m in Canada, and our winters can drag on, so spring is an especially exciting time for me. For this look, I paired our linen Patricia with a simple long sleeved tee. Autumn would be an excellent choice for this. Choose a coordinating colour, or just use a neutral! It’s such a simple outfit that can be thrown together.
SUMMER
Summer might be coming to an end now, but it will be back again before you know it. For summer, the important thing to consider is choosing a lightweight, breathable fabric. After that, add a sunhat and some sunglasses, and you’ve got summer covered!
AUTUMN
A personal favourite season. Bring on the PSLs (pumpkin spiced lattes), cozy pullovers, and gorgeous colours!
To style Patricia for fall, I chose to throw a lightweight (bamboo French terry) pullover over top. Cute, cozy, and practical! I recommend sizing up a simple Jayden or Cypress (but keeping the bands and neckline the proper size). Add in some Doc Marten dupes, a purse, and a latte, and you are ready to take on the fall.
WINTER
It might not be what you want to think about right now, but winter is coming… and it’s best to be prepared! I think this look was my favourite of all. My daughter chose her favourite jeans to wear under her Patricia, and I suggested adding the turtle neck as well. Minimal skin exposure means minimal complaints. Of course, where we are located, this will all be hiding under a parka. But at least we know she looks cute under there!
