25 Days of Christmas – Day 3 Clara
On the third day of Christmas Simple Life Pattern Company and Art Gallery Fabrics gave to me, a midcentury modern inspired Clara dress.
For all the years I’ve been sewing SLPco patterns, I’m so suprised I have never sewn Clara before. This pattern is stunning and sews up really fast. The open v-back with pointed collar makes me swoon! It definitely gives me retro vibes. I was super excited when I found the AGF midcentury modern Christmas in the City collection. I just knew they would pair beautifully together.
The Clara options I chose were the collar, 3/4 sleeves, tiered skirt, and the bow pockets. We drove to our city’s old train station for photos and I just love how they turned out.
To Achieve This Look:
- AGF fabric is from the Christmas in the City collection in the following prints: Rockin’ Around, Starry Sky Snow, Fa La La, and Starry Sky Pink.
- Socks are from Little Stocking Co.
- Bow is from Clairebow Baby.
A Holiday Craft
Now, if you look closely at the main fabric used, you will notice lots of little vintage ornaments. I found a fun little tutorial on how to make your own vintage inspired ornaments. I recently inherited my grandmother’s “pink tree” ornaments which includes several vintage Shiny Brite ornaments. I just love the style and all the detail of the old ornaments. I’m such a sucker for the late 50s midcentury modern style.
A Holiday Treat
The treat I have for you today is very near and dear to my heart and is also reminiscent of the 1950s time period. Before my great-grandmother, Mamaw, passed away she gifted us with a handwritten cookbook of her favorite recipes. It is one of my most prized possessions. I am sharing her Coconut Meringue Pie filling with you today. Just add to your favorite pre-cooked pie shell for a yummy nostalgic treat.
Happy Christmas sewing,
