Inspired Halloween: Everyday Halloween

Welcome to another Inspired Halloween segment! Let’s take a look at some amazing, seasonal looks. First up, an appliquéd pumpkin shirt!

“Hi, it’s Amanda from LoveCraftSew on the blog today to bring you an easy look for everyday Halloween wear with a shabby chic pumpkin shirt!  This project is also a perfect scrap-buster and will easily work after Halloween for Thanksgiving and the entire Autumn season as well.  You will need a SLPCO shirt pattern of your choice (I used Cheyenne), some fabric scraps, a projector and fusible interfacing for this project.

For this tutorial we are going to be using an applique method for a scrappy pumpkin that uses up those tiny scraps in your sewing room!  Go ahead and find a fun mix of patterns and textures;  I used velvet and corduroy to add fun texture to this top.  I found a free image by searching google for a segmented pumpkin for applique.  Once you have selected your image you will go ahead and cut all pattern pieces as listed in the tutorial.  Lay out your bodice front piece and project your pumpkin image onto the fabric.  You can then easily shrink or enlarge the image to the right size for your top.  Once the image is to the size of your liking you will trace it onto your fusible interfacing.  I also labeled my pieces with numbers to know the proper placementlater.

After you have your traced interfacing pieces you will cut them out and pin them onto the fabric scraps and then iron them on to the pinned scraps.  Once the pieces have been ironed you will then cut all of the pumpkin pieces out and arrange them onto your bodice front.  After the pieces are arranged correctly you will iron them to your bodice.  After this you will stitch around all of the applique pieces with your preferred stitch.  Note:  Most of my applique pieces are woven so they will fray after washing but I love that frayed look for an even shabbier pumpkin look. After your appliques are stitched on you just need to sew up your top pattern per the tutorial and you are finished!

This is a perfect way to use up those fabric scraps and get an entire season of use out of a holiday shirt!  I hope you are inspired by this look, and we can’t wait to see your everyday Halloween looks in the Simple Life fan group on Facebook!

what an adorable top! Next, we have a beetle juice inspired outfit.

“For this everyday Halloween look I used Unwind flares in a lime green crushed panne knit fabric. The top is a simple Isla with elbow length sleeves in a black and white striped knit. Super simple and quick to sew up!”

Now let’s take a look at some looks from past blog posts, starting with this adorable Halloween Clara!
