Cinder-Ella Inspired Dress {A Halloween Showcase}

Hi, it’s Kaitlin again!!  When my daughter Ella was born, I always dreamt of her being a princess for Halloween. This year I decided to make her a *Cinder*Ella inspired dress. Simple Life Pattern Company had the perfect combination of patterns to make my dream come true!

I knew I wanted to make a dress inspired by the original animated film. One problem I had was picking what color to make the dress. The dress appears to be white in the movie but everywhere else it is blue. I decided to use a light blue crepe back satin fabric.

I wanted the flounce at the hip but did not want the dress to be floor length because she is only 19 months and it is easier for her to move around in a vintage style length dress. I used the side flounce pieces from the Kinley pattern. I sewed metallic braided trim to the outer edge of the flounce.

 I cut the underskirt 2” longer than the longest part of the flounce and used the width of the fabric for each rectangle piece. I then added silver beaded lace ribbon to the bottom edge of the underskirt.

Under the skirt I followed my tutorial to add a sewn in pettiskirt.  I added 5 layers of the petticoat netting (instead of 3) to add more poof to the dress!

For the bodice front and back I used the Molly pattern.  I absolutely adore the scoop back on this pattern and knew I had to included it on my dress. On the front bodice I hand sewed on a lace appliqué.

 Pearl has the most incredible short puff sleeves that are quintessential for any princess dress. They are my go-to sleeves for vintage inspired dresses!

By mashing pieces of Molly, Kinley, and Pearl together I was able to create a princess themed costume for my daughter’s second Halloween. Please share your Halloween makes using SLPCO patterns in the Simple Life Company fan group for all to see and enjoy!
